I usually have great the experiences of a tasting menu paired with wines; it's consistently a delightful experience. Regrettably, tonight didn't live up to my expectations.
The dining experience left much to be desired. We opted for the 8-course tasting menu with wine pairing at a steep cost of $190 per person, which, while expectedly expensive in Italy, left us with some reservations. The issue became apparent as the evening unfolded. The portions were extraordinarily small, even for a tasting menu. While I anticipated delicate and artfully presented dishes, this was the first time I found myself heading elsewhere for food right after leaving a restaurant. Spending $190 should ensure you leave a restaurant feeling satisfied, not searching for a meal.
I found the wine pairing to be rather mediocre. It seems like there is room for improvement in terms of understanding and refining food and wine pairings
Service started off well, with attentive servers explaining each dish and wine pairings. However, it took a frustrating turn towards the end. Our servers seemed to forget about our table, neglecting water refills and disappearing for extended periods. After 40 minutes of waiting, we had to get up and request the bill ourselves.
Regarding the atmosphere, the music was pleasant, but we had to contend with an abundance of mosquitoes throughout the evening.
I thought a Michelin star restaurant would have higher standards of service. This was a humble lesson to not blindly trust it.
We enjoyed a delicious meal here. The atmosphere was tasteful and peaceful. The service was extraordinary from the moment we walked in the door. Our waitress, Allesia, was super helpful and explained all of the dishes very well. She speaks Italian, French and English. The wait staff were all very polite and were there immediately when a dish needed to be cleared as well as setting up things for the next course. The food was wonderful… the portions were small but brimming with delicate tastes. They also provided several items that we didn’t order that were delicious too. Before starting the meal there was sorbet and a separate stuffed onion flower served on fresh moss. The presentation was beautiful! After finishing our lunch and a beautiful dessert, we were presented with filled meringue and a “lollypop” that consisted of passion fruit and mango formed into a small ball on a stick and coated with a “candy” type coating so that they looked like lollipops. Everything was very well executed, the service was fantastic! Although it was a little expensive, if you appreciate fine food, I would highly recommend the ristorante!
An amazing dining experience. From the moment we walked in, they treated us like 'rock stars.' Subdued, modern ambiance. The tables were set so we felt like we were among others, but not crowded--a perfect balance between intimate and community. And the food--wow. The chef seemed to have obsessed over every course. The staff shared with us the 'story' behind each course, the ingredients and cooking techniques. We felt the presentation to be imaginative and fun. Telling moment was one of our guests being asked if something wasn't right with a course because she hadn't finished it. Apparently, the chef takes it personally if everything isn't spectacular. We assured them that she was only saving space for the rest of the dinner. This place is a must for an enthusiast of Ligurian cuisine and anyone passionate about food.
What a fantastic evening .
This beautiful little Restaurant , right at the Piazza de Ferrari is a hidden gem in Genova. Right from the beginning we felt very Welcome and Well treatet. We had the 5 Course Degustation menue and what should i say.... It was amazing . Well balanced compositions , selected ingridients, suprising flavour combinations and and a beautiful selection of wine , Cocktails and spirits. For us the best Thing .... They even did a Vegetarian Menue . Service was in Point, never to much and really lovely. We will come Back the next time we are in the City and we would recommend everyone to try it Out . The prices are super fair for such a quality and all in all it was the best Restaurant experience we Had in Genova so far . Contrats to the Team , you do an amazing Job .
In a few words... Do not hesitate and book table.
The service is outstanding
The food is deadilicious. We opted for the 5 course meal, under the inspiration of the chef. Every single plate was a pure pleasure and not one single flaw was spotted. We really enjoyed it.
The place in itself is also very beautiful.
We had a delicious and unique meal with the friendliest service! Everything was not just good tasting but also beautiful to look at. Also I’m dairy free and they were happy to modify the tasting menu to accommodate.
A gem near the Ferrari Piazza, in the small street of the Centro Storico. Intimate atmosphere for a restaurant which is for locals. The chef from Genoa proposes a very creative cuisine with ingredients from his garden. Great selection of wines too...
The food was exquisite. Inventive and delicious from start to finish. The service was also superb - attentive without being overbearing. The sommelier in particular was highly knowledgable and recommended wines which perfectly suited our food choices. Definitely worth a visit.
